composing a Life

The first section in our course is titled “Composing a Life.” This section will allow us to explore the various identities we carry in an effort to better understand what it means to be a member of the St. Catherine community. We will learn about the identity of St. Catherine University by being introduced to the work of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJs) and the mission of our university, which emphasizes women’s education, Catholic social teaching, and the liberal arts. The assigned readings will represent an array of interdisciplinary perspectives from diverse authors on our work as a scholarly community. Throughout the next several weeks, you will have the opportunity to reflect upon your relationship to our mission and scholarly community through artistic expression, class discussion and formal written assignments. “Composing a Life” will serve as a foundation to excellent reading and writing habits that will be necessary for your academic success throughout your time here.
