Week 9

Overview of the Week

This week, we will continue to work on the research project; the power of strong writing will be emphasized.  By presenting excellent writing, you will assert a strong representation of your scholarly voice, and you will practice excellent communication for your new career.

There will be a writing workshop available for you as part of your learning community.  Thinking Storm is available to all students—so plan your time so that you can get feedback from this online writing service.  Ask your professor for advice as you engage in your writing.

Your goal should be to post a polished research paper—present your best writing.  Then, your professor will provide feedback on your clarity of ideas, organization, paragraphs and sentence strength.  By presenting your best writing, your professor can give you the most meaningful feedback.

We will address the following course outcomes this week:
  • Apply an understanding of social justice, as an active member of the St. Catherine community of scholars, with a particular focus on dismantling systemic racism
  • Apply knowledge and skills, using various perspectives from the liberal arts traditions, women-centered scholarly work and Catholic social teaching
  • Apply excellent critical thinking, critical reading and scholarly writing skills (including excellence in sentence level fluency, organization, voice and audience)
